Work Experiences
Web Developer
I work in the Intranet team at the IT Department of the ELKB. The intranet is built in Drupal and is used by more than 20,000 users. As part of my job I build new applications, fix bugs in the existing code and support colleagues in using the intranet and the cloud.
- Develop concepts and build mockups for the next generation of ELKB Intranet
- Write plugins for the content migration from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9
- Migrate content types, workflows and contents from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 and Drupal 9
- Write modules to support migration of the moderation workflow for particular content types
- Build and maintain new web applications for the ELKB Intranet, e.g. a bulletin board; an image gallery for users to upload and share their photographs with others; a resource where every organisation in the ELKB can upload their role and duties as part of the financial review process
- Develop and build web forms and workflows for different needs, e.g. onboarding procedures, holiday requests, reimbursement of travel expenses
- Create screencasts and user manuals for intranet-related tools, applications, webforms and administrative procedures
- Hold consultation hours for users with questions and issues regarding ELKB Intranet
Systems Engineer
I worked in the EULYNX Group, which is a European project to standardise railway signalling and control interfaces. My role involved creating SysML applications for a trackside communication device RBC as part of the European Train Control System (ETCS).
- Wrote model-based requirement specifications for the international railway project EULYNX
- Generated runnable, SysML-compliant, standalone applications from the model
- Presented the work results at international EULYNX cluster meetings
- Consulted Deutsche Bahn AG on the approval-relevant procedure for trackside ETCS equipment and on technical tasks related to ETCS
Founder and Operator
As a passionate fan of ginger beer I found it tedious to spot and buy this beverage in Germany, since it was barely known here in 2014. So I founded and built justgingerbeer.de - the first online shop in Germany specialised in different types of ginger beer.
- Planned, organised and built the online shop with Wordpress CMS and WooCommerce plugin
- Sourced different varieties of ginger beer from various suppliers, processed and shipped customer orders
- Run the customer support, accounting and marketing
Consultant for System Network Technology - subject area ETCS
DB Netz AG is part of the German national railway company Deutsche Bahn. My role at the company involved contributing to the approval of the European Train Control System (ETCS) by German Railway Authorities.
- Wrote new technical and operational requirements for the German ETCS specification
- Conducted technical reviews on safety assessments of operational and technical ETCS scenarios
- Coordinated the interoperability analysis between German and European ETCS specification
